We are in the midst of a golden age of remote employment. Many people are looking for ways to make money online, whether by choice or necessity. And one of those possibilities is to take online classes.
Creating an online course, however, is not the greatest option for everyone.
Why?
They do, however, necessitate a significant amount of effort. And, yes, that work allows you to charge more. However, higher-priced items aren’t all that they’re built up to be.
“So, what should you do in its place?”
Experiment.
Another advantage of making smaller digital products is that it allows me to explore. While I conduct market research on a daily basis, I am also a creative person. Sometimes I have ideas that my audience does not expressly want or require.
But, because I know my audience, I can use my imagination to create something they might like. And because the price is in the two-digit area, it’s lot easier to sell.
Experimenting is essential for any creative entrepreneur or freelancer. You must discover what works best for you and your audience. And just because you don’t sell a lot of one product when it first comes out doesn’t indicate it won’t sell later.
Understand your target audience.
In some circumstances, you may have an audience that is eager to pay four figures for your latest course. However, not all audiences are like this.
To use myself as an example, my core audience consists of current music students and recent music school graduates. In other words, my target demographic isn’t flush with cash.
While I may get a few sales on a large course, I don’t have the audience to maintain steady income that way. I must meet my target audience where they are: with more cheap digital offerings.
Do whatever you want.
Of course, you must cater to your ideal customer. However, you have complete control over what you do in your firm. You have the authority to create huge courses or to begin with modest downloads.
